Part 1—Preliminary

1 Name

This instrument is the Migration (Arrangements for Maritime Crew Visa Applications) Instrument 2026.

2 Commencement

This instrument commences on 1 November 2026.

3 Authority

This instrument is made under subregulations 2.07(5) and 2.07(6) of the Migration Regulations 1994.

4 Schedules

Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

5 Definitions

Note: A number of expressions used in this instrument are defined in the Act, including the following:

(a) approved form;

(b) visa.

In this instrument:

Act means the Migration Act 1958.

ImmiAccount means the interactive portal for online services available through the Department’s website at https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au.

Internet application has the meaning given by regulation 1.03 of the Regulations.

Regulations means the Migration Regulations 1994.

6 Maritime Crew (Temporary) (Class ZM) Visa

For the purposes of subitem 1227(1) and paragraph 1227(3)(a) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, for each kind of visa applicant mentioned in Column 2 of an item in the table in Schedule 1 to this instrument:

(a) the approved form is specified in the corresponding row in Column 3 of the same table item; and

(b) the place and manner for making an application are specified in the corresponding row in Column 4 of that table item.
